Beaufort, North Carolina

Yesterday we arrived in the town of Beaufort, North Carolina.  It’s 2:20 AM local time and we’re supposed to be up by 8 something AM tomorrow, so I can’t go into much detail…

But in short, today involved boating near Rachel Carson National Estuarine Sanctuary (named after the famous environmentalist and author of Silent Spring),  a somewhat dramatic moment involving the pilot of our boat jumping into the sound to push us off a sand bar and North Carolina clam chowder with freshly caught clams.
